A Few of My Favorite Things

February 24, 2015 2 min read

Taking care of ourselves is something us mothers have little time to do.

We scurry about, making lunches, transporting our little loves here and there and at the end of the day, if we’ve done everything right, there’s a warm meal on the table.

When I do get the time to take a breather, there are a few things I just can’t do without. It’s always a good day when I have a delicious, healthy drink or get wrapped up in a favorite sweater.

This month, we show others how much we love them with heart-filled gestures. But we should also treat ourselves to a little pampering. Here are five great ways I do just that:

  1. Kari Gran Skincare

I don’t invest a lot in expensive lotions and potions when it comes to my skin. But I do love a fresh face.

So when I discovered Kari Gran skincare line, I fell madly in love.

The line’s trio of products—Cleansing Oil, Hydrating Tonic and Essential Serum—leave my face glowing and nourished. Recently, I tried their Lip Whip treatment and have incorporated that into my daily routine.

  1. Candles

Candles have a soothing, romantic quality regardless of where I put them. I could dine by candlelight every night, and no bubble bath is complete without candles. I especially like the paraffin-free tea lights from Goodlight Natural Candles. They are made with palm wax and pure cotton wicks, which means they burn clean and bright and without fumes.

  1. Wool

As the maker of LooHoo wool dryer balls, it’s no surprise I love wool. Blankets, sweaters and socks…there’s not a wool product I don’t enjoy.

Recently I discovered Minus33. The line’s Merino Wool Ossipee Midweight Crew long-sleeve is an incredibly comfortable way to stay warm and cozy in the winter.

But what keeps me in the clouds these days is a nice, thick wool mattress pad. It’s warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and my secret to getting a good night’s sleep.

  1. Soap Nuts/Soap Berry Laundry Detergent

Perhaps the best soap you can put in your washer, this detergent from NaturOli Beautiful is simple and good. It’s unscented, which means it’s perfect for sensitive skin or anyone with allergies. The vegetable glycerin and olive leaf extract ingredients are also great nourishment for the skin.

  1. Smoothies

This year we’ve joined the green smoothie movement, whipping up a different concoction almost every morning (and the occasional peanut butter banana smoothie in the afternoon). They're amazing and my son is getting lots of fruits and veggies in the process. I feel much brighter and healthier throughout the day, and that makes me happy.

We'd love to hear from you!  What are a few of your favorite things?

My Juicer is one of my favorite things: If I miss a day I can tell that my body is not in sync.

Hello,
I have and use your LooHoo balls in my dryer and like them a lot. Wondering if you’re going to offer scented oils to add to the balls for the dryer. That would be a great addition.
